Come and join me for a fun day learning how to create your own festive green man sculpture from clay. No experience necessary. Christmas Green Man Pottery Workshop Join local artist Helen McCormick for a relaxed, creative day at The Walronds. Learn to sculpt a festive, characterful Christmas Green Man using traditional hand-building techniques and high-quality buff clay. About the Workshop Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your pottery skills, this workshop offers a friendly and supportive space to create. During the morning, I will guide you step-by-step through the process of hand-building your own Green Man wall plaque, adorned with seasonal foliage like holly, ivy, and berries. In the afternoon, you will learn how to apply underglaze colour to your sculpture, bringing it to life. We will be working with buff clay, a versatile material perfect for capturing fine detail. Once fired, your piece will be finished with a transparent glaze. This adds a beautiful shine, brings out the natural warmth of the clay, and makes your sculpture durable and weather-resistant. The focus of the day is on learning, meeting new people, and most importantly, having fun! What’s Included • All clay, tools and equipment. • Tea and coffee provided throughout the day. • Professional kiln firing and transparent glazing of your finished piece. What to Bring • A packed lunch. • An apron and old clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty. The Firing Process & Collection After the workshop, I will take your sculpture to my studio to be dried, bisque-fired, glazed, and fired again. Collection: Because of the two-stage firing and glazing process, your work will be ready to collect from The Walronds approximately 6 weeks after the workshop. I will contact you with specific dates and times once they are ready. Please note: Finished work can be stored for up to 6 months before being donated to charity. Refund & Cancellation Policy I understand that plans can change, but as a small micro business (only me), last-minute cancellations are difficult to fill. My policy is as follows: • 14 days or more before the event: Full refund of the ticket price provided. • 7 to 13 days before the event: Full refund ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee) OR a ticket transfer to a future workshop of the same value. • 3 to 7 days before the event: 75% refund of the ticket price ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee). No ticket transfers. • 2 days (48 hours) before the event: 50% refund of the ticket price ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee). No ticket transfers. • Less than 48 hours or No-shows: No refunds or transfers can be offered. If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund. Directions: Turn up Tiverton Road from the High Street, then turn left onto Shortlands Lane (just before the fire station). I am a fully qualified Art and Design teacher with a Master’s degree in Ceramics and hold an enhanced DBS check.
