Skills for Health (HSC376) & WHO compliant Basic understanding of English language required PART 1 - CLASSROOM Theory: Attend a classroom location for one full day PART 2 - CLASSROOM Skills and Practical Development: Attend a classroom location for one full day Course Content: Introductions & Overview History, Definitions & Roles Work-flow Cycles Professionalism Health & Safety Blood Collection Systems Anatomy & Physiology Blood Composition Using the Equipment Performing the Venepuncture Lab Tests & Bottle Types Analytical Errors Practical Sessions: Equipment familiarisation Using the tourniquet & identifying a vein Handling & assembling the equipment Hands on approach using vein blocks Performing the venepuncture (on artificial arms) Role Play Home Study Pack - A Home Study Pack will be provided to you prior to attending the course and is an integral part of your learning programme. Completion of this assignment is recommended prior to attending the course and is designed to provide you with a basic knowledge of several fundamental subject areas.
