Ludgershall Castle and Cross walking tour, a step through time

Join our Knowledgeable volunteer for an exclusive guided tour of Ludgershall Castle As part of the 2026 Heritage Open Days festival, English Heritage are offering free exclusive guided tours of Ludgershall Castle. The tours will take place on Sunday 13 and Sunday 20 September at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. They are approx. 1 hour. Dogs welcome on leads Join us for an in-person adventure as we explore Ludgershall Castle and its iconic cross! This walking tour is a fun way to take a step through time and learn about the rich history of the area. Perfect for history buffs and curious minds alike. Lace up your comfy shoes and get ready to discover fascinating stories and hidden gems right where they happened. Don't miss out on this cool chance to connect with the past! Parking: There is a small free car park with four spaces on Castle Street 50 metres from the site. A further car park (not managed by English Heritage) can be found in St James Street in the town centre. It is possible to drive to the gate at the entrance to the castle grounds for dropping off.Access: The wooded western section of the site has narrow footpaths which can become muddy in wet weather, sturdy footwear is therefore advised. The grassed earthworks surrounding the ruins are steep.
