<p><br></p><p>Dutch groove-explorers <strong>YĪN YĪN</strong> are bringing disco, funk, psychedelia and dance to <strong>Wellington&rsquo;s San Fran Friday 27 November</strong> and<strong>&nbsp;Auckland&rsquo;s</strong> <strong>Tuning Fork&nbsp;</strong>on<strong>&nbsp;Saturday 28 November.&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Made up of<strong>&nbsp;Erik Bandt</strong> on guitar, <strong>Kees Berkers</strong> on drums, <strong>Jer&ocirc;me Schere&nbsp;</strong>on keyboards and<strong>&nbsp;Remy Scheren</strong> on bass, YĪN YĪN are the kaleidoscopic instrumental quartet from Maastricht, Netherlands, renowned for their genre-bending records and transportive live experience.&nbsp;</p><p>Emerging out of an experimental jam session in a remote ballet school village in 2017 that resulted in the making of their debut album <strong><em>The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers,&nbsp;</em></strong>the band have since created another three critically acclaimed albums and spent the better part of the last decade chasing rhythm across continents.&nbsp;</p><p>With relentless international touring and performing everywhere from<strong>&nbsp;Fuji Rock Festival</strong> and<strong>&nbsp;Lowlands</strong> to<strong>&nbsp;North Sea Jazz Festival&nbsp;</strong>and <strong>Clockenflap</strong> they have been collecting sounds, textures and musical flavours like souvenirs, drawing from a multitude of influences such as &lsquo;70s Thai Funk, Japanese City Pop and crate-dug global disco. Each project has evolved alongside the eager exploration to immerse their worldly experience into a sonic universe of their own.</p><p>Their latest of which,<strong><em>Yatta!</em></strong>, arrived in January 2026. A defining influence on <em>Yatta!</em> Is the cosmic allure of Italo Disco - the psychedelic futuristic dance music that emerged in Italy during the late 1970s and flourished throughout the 80s. <em>&ldquo;It has something of a mystique,&rdquo;</em> the band explains.&nbsp;</p><p><em>&ldquo;Because all the producers were using new recording techniques and effects and stuff like that, but there are not many pictures or videos of how they were creating things in the studio.You have to use your own fantasy and create your own story about how that music is created.&rdquo;</em></p><p>This one sees the band into their most realised selves yet, translating into an unmissable live experience. <em>&ldquo;We tried to make a mix of songs that are very energetic and danceable and are party starters, but also have songs that take you on trips and are more easy. People can also just chill and relax and listen to the music and enjoy it.&rdquo; - YĪN YĪN&nbsp;</em></p><p><br></p><p>Aotearoa, get ready to move.
