Technologies of Intimacycurated by Ana Cristina CacholaIn historical discourse, intimacy often emerges as a blind spot: something marginal, rarely recorded, difficult to pin down. That which eludes the archive—such as affection, physical contact and sensory experience—tends to remain absent, relegated to zones of silence or omission. History, in organising and stabilising narratives, often leaves out that which is contingent, relational and difficult to record.It is in fiction that intimacy becomes visible, often in the form of excess. It multiplies, intensifies and projects itself beyond the lived experience, producing images and narratives that expand what history does not retain. In this shift, the intimate ceases to be merely a space of interiority to become a matter of construction, staging and circulation.Bringing together artists from different generations and disciplines, this group exhibition is conceived as an exploration of the technologies of intimacy, understood not merely as devices, but as ways of producing, regulating and expanding the intimate. In this context, the works presented do not seek to illustrate a preconceived idea of intimacy, but rather to operate upon it, destabilising its boundaries and exposing the conditions of its production. Between the absence that structures historical discourse and that which is produced within an economy of saturation, the works inhabit this disjunction, activating different regimes of visibility, proximity and inscription.
