Functional & Metabolic Psychiatry: Provider Education Session

An evening for healthcare professionals: how the gut, metabolism, nutrients & hormones shape mental health, and when to refer. NeurishU, a product of New U Therapy Center, invites healthcare professionals to an introduction to our new Functional & Metabolic Psychiatry program. Therapy and medication management remain the foundation of mental health care. Functional psychiatry adds a third layer that asks why. It looks beneath the symptoms at how the gut–brain axis, inflammation, nutrient status, blood sugar and metabolism, hormones, and sleep and stress can contribute to depression, anxiety, and other conditions. Presented by Emiliano Baquir, PMHNP, program lead, this session will cover: • The core drivers of functional psychiatry: the gut–brain axis, inflammation, nutrients, and metabolism • How the program works, from comprehensive intake to targeted labs and medication optimization • How to identify and refer patients who may benefit • Your role in a collaborative, team-based model of care Patients who may benefit include those with a partial response to therapy or medication, medication side effects or interest in tapering, co-occurring GI symptoms, fatigue, or brain fog, and those seeking a root-cause, whole-body approach.
