Introduction to identifying, assessing, and managing electrical risks within the context of home modifications. Part 2 of the 5 part Home Modifications Series. Who Should Attend? This event is tailored for clinicians - Occupational Therapists. What we'll cover: Participants will gain an understanding of relevant electrical safety requirements, key client considerations and practical risk management principles to support safe and effective practice. Key learning outcomes: • Understand the background and importance of electrical risk management in home modifications. • Apply relevant principles from AS/NZS 3000 Electrical Installations standards. • Identify client-related factors that may influence electrical risk. • Conduct basic electrical risk analysis within a home environment. • Apply assessment principles when considering electrical risks and modifications. • Implement strategies to effectively manage and mitigate identified risks. Presenters: Belinda Carpenter | Occupational Therapist Nathan Thomas | Licenced Builder Belinda Carpenter is an Occupational Therapist with more than 20 years of experience, specialising in assistive technology (AT) throughout most of her career. Her work centres on providing high-level clinical support to teams of therapists and delivering specialised AT and home modification services to clients of all ages. Belinda is passionate about service improvement and knowledge sharing to improve client outcomes. She brings a wealth of leadership and industry experience to her role, having served as the Assistive Technology Practice Lead at Novita for six years, and previously as the Manager of Specialist Equipment Services with the Domiciliary Equipment Service in South Australia. Belinda’s extensive clinical background also includes key positions within the former Independent Living Equipment Program in the South Australian government, as well as foundational experience with a regional health service in Victoria. Nathan Thomas is a Senior Home Modifications Officer with over 30 years of experience across various sectors of the building industry. His extensive experience includes designing and manufacturing structural components for residential construction, obtaining his General Builders Licence in 2004, and supervising maintenance and upgrade works across government and non-government public housing. At NovitaTech, Nathan oversees the Home Modifications function as the Senior Home Modifications Officer, providing leadership and coordination across projects and taking on a project management role to ensure works are effectively planned, delivered and completed to a high standard. His previous four and a half years of experience in public housing have further strengthened his expertise in managing maintenance, modifications and upgrade projects, working closely with a range of stakeholders to achieve practical and compliant outcomes.
