LET’S TALK, TORONTO: SCARBOROUGH A Conversation with Karen Stintz & Greg Brady The Six Torontos Tour Scarborough: More Than a Suburb — What Does It Take to Connect a City This Big? Scarborough is one of Toronto's largest and most diverse communities. However, for decades, it has too often been talked about as though it were simply a suburb of the city. So what does Scarborough tell us about Toronto? More than 25 years after amalgamation, has Toronto truly become one connected city? What has Scarborough gained—and what has it lost? And what would it take to better connect communities that are geographically, culturally and economically different? This Scarborough conversation will explore the decisions that shaped the community, the challenges it faces today, and what Toronto needs to do to ensure that Scarborough isn't simply included in the city but fully connected to it. Join Karen Stintz, former Toronto City Councillor & TTC Chair, and author of Beyond Good Enough: Toronto and the Crisis of Urban Complacency, and Greg Brady, veteran Canadian media broadcaster and host of Toronto Today on 640 Toronto, for an evening of conversation about the city we inherited, the city we have become, and the city we could still build. Expect stories, ideas, debate and a lively conversation about Toronto's past, present and future, with an opportunity to ask your own questions. Set in the historic and neighbourhood-focused Olde Stone Cottage Pub, this is the Scarborough stop of The Six Torontos Tour—a series of conversations across the former municipalities that became today's City of Toronto.
