Tier 1 Essential Communication Skills

Training is aimed at any health and social care worker. This is a practical workshop focused on using empathy as a way of creating connection. We will be exploring a communication skills model as a framework for practicing our skills in small groups using scenarios. After completing this training you will: • Understand the importance of good communication in end of life care. • Understand the importance of empathy in creating human connection • Be aware of behaviours that block connection • Be aware of behaviours that facilitate connection • Be able to use active listening skills to create empathic interactions • Be able to model how to listen and respond NB We are running Tier 1 and 2 on the same day. If you wish to attend both sessions please book on separately. It is recommended that staff attend Tier 1 training before progressing to Tier 2. This course contributes 3hrs of CPD towards NMC revalidation.
