Receive the Sunrise in Xochimilco with a traditional boat ride, milpa breakfast, agriculture, Kirtan chant and a gathering with Swami Yati. Some sunrises invite us to see the world differently. We invite you to sail through the canals of Xochimilco as we welcome the first rays of the sun and discover the richness of the ancient chinampa farming system. Surrounded by water, earth, and crops, we will share a freshly harvested breakfast from the milpa, experience mantra chanting with a live ensemble of musicians (kirtan), and take part in an open conversation with Swami Yatidharmananda*. Later, we will discover more about traditional agriculture in Xochimilco through an agroecology workshop and enjoy the experience of harvesting directly from the chinampa. APPROXIMATE SCHEDULE 5:15 a.m. · Meet at Cuemanco dock. 5:30 a.m. · Boarding, journey through the canals, and sunrise. 8:00 a.m. · Gentle movement practice, grounding through gratitude, and attunement of the mind. 8:15 a.m. · Breakfast from the milpa. 9:15 a.m. · Kirtan (mantra chanting) and conversation with Swami Yati. 10:45 a.m. · Agroecology workshop and harvesting experience. 1:00 p.m. · Approximate return to the dock. YOUR TICKET INCLUDES A trajinera boat ride, access to all practices and activities with Swami Yati and Victoria, a farm-to-table breakfast from the milpa, and an agroecology experience on the chinampa. Coffee and sweeat bread will be available during the boat ride, and water will be provided throughout the experience. All activities listed in the program are included in your ticket. Parking is paid separately if you choose to use it. MEETING POINT We will meet at 5:15 a.m. at the Cuemanco parking lot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9BdW4e3YeEAbomeP8 When you arrive, ask for the Hecho en Xochimilco team. Boarding will begin at 5:30 a.m., so please plan your journey accordingly and allow enough time to arrive before departure. WHAT TO BRING Please bring: • Comfortable, warm clothing in layers • Closed-toe shoes that can get dirty • Long socks • A cap or hat • Sunscreen • Insect repellent • A refillable thermos or water bottle We also recommend bringing cash for parking, purchases, or tips. LANGUAGE English and Spanish *ABOUT SWAMI YATIDHARMANANDA Swami Yatidharmananda is an Indian monk, meditation teacher, and founder of the Swami Chidananda Sevashram, a socio-spiritual organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the teachings of Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji. His spiritual path began at a young age, driven by deep questions about culture, religion, and the nature of spiritual life. At the age of 24, he became the personal assistant of Swami Chidanandaji, a direct disciple of Swami Sivananda, whom he accompanied and served for many years. In the year 2000, he received Sannyasa Diksha from Swami Chidanandaji, marking his formal initiation into monastic life. Since then, Swami Yati has shared his teachings internationally through practices designed to understand, quiet, and transform the mind, including meditation, Yoga Nidra, kirtan, Vedanta, and others. He has participated in several editions of the Parliament of the World’s Religions and, in 2023, was invited to speak as a Luminary Speaker during one of its main plenary sessions in Chicago. His way of teaching brings together the depth of the yogic tradition with an approach that is practical, warm, accessible, and filled with humor, allowing ancient teachings to become living tools for navigating the challenges of everyday life. Swami Yati will be visiting Mexico from September 30 to October 11. This will be a special opportunity to meet him, spend time in his presence, and learn directly from his teachings, while creating space for some of the deeper questions we often ask of life itself: questions about purpose, the mind, relationships, suffering, spiritual practice, or simply how to live with greater clarity. Perhaps, through his experience, practice, and path, Swami Yati may help us contemplate these questions from a different perspective.
